Competition winners!

Each year, Lytham Festival gets bigger and better and this year was no exception!  As part of the wider St. George’s Day Festival and for the first time, a Choir Competition was included in the programme.  The Festival itself raised funds for 3 charities, which were ABF- The Soldier’s Charity, Trinity Hospice and Love Lowther.

An impressive array of music and dance was showcased, featuring choirs from all over the North West, including performing arts students from Preston’s College and a newly formed choir performing for the first time in public.
One Voice Community Choir was incredibly proud to be selected to take part, especially in a local competition.  The great thing was that although choirs were competing there was an immense feeling of support and comradery from all the choirs taking part.
After hearing all the choirs perform, we were thrilled to be shortlisted into the final.  It gave us the chance to share our inspirational and contagious energy with the audience once more.   Seeing the smiling faces in front of us (including the judges), helped us to convey the message of each song to reach the audience.
The ‘icing on the cake’ came when we were announced as the WINNERS and had to perform one more time.  This time everyone was up on their feet and clapping along (including the judges).  We were so impressed with the other choirs and it was an honour to perform alongside them.
The two songs we performed were Glory, Glory and How Excellent.
